The start of this year’s winter season will also coincide with an important event: on December, the most important investment made by the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta (ski area Pinzolo) for the winter 2023/2024 season, will officially open: the Doss del Sabion has been entirely redesigned.
There are three new features in the ski area that will harmoniously blend into the surroundings of the Brenta Dolomites: a new 10-passenger gondola lift that has replaced the 4-passenger Pinzolo Prà Rodont – Doss del Sabion chairlift, a base and top station built completely underground, and the new rifugio Doss del Sabion mountain hut.
Leitner 10-seater gondola lift, Prà Rodont – Doss del Sabion
During the 2023 summer season, the 4-seater detachable chairlift connecting Prà Rodont to the top of Doss del Sabion since 1988 will be replaced.
Lift
For the new ropeway system, a detachable gondola lift was chosen. It is a monocable system in which the vehicles are detached from the haul cable in the stations. The entry and exit areas of the gondola platform are traversed at lower speeds, enabling passengers to easily enter and leave the cabins. Between the departure station and the arrival station 11 towers will be built. The height difference of 591 m for an inclined length of 1,634 m will be covered in 4.32’’ with a maximum speed of 6.00 m/s. The capacity will be up to 2,800 persons/hr.
Cabins
The Diamond EVO premium cabins can host up to 10 guests. Ski racks are installed inside the cabin, in the central part of the floor. The all-round glazing allows guests to marvel at the impressive surroundings from all angles during the trip from Prà Rodont to Doss del Sabion. There will be 53 cabins and the floor of one of them will be transparent, thus offering the experience of travelling “suspended in the void”.

Rifugio Doss del Sabion (2,101 m): restyling and extension
At the top of Doss del Sabion, the homonymous rifugio welcomes skiers and hikers since 1969 . During the years, the building has undergone continuous modernization and expansion and, in conjunction with the replacement of the Prà Rodont-Doss del Sabion 4-seater chairlift with the new 10-seater gondola lift, majorenlargement work and a complete restyling will be carried out in summer 2023.
Café and bistro
Guests will reach the mountain refuge by escalator or lift from the top station of the new gondola lift (barrier-free access).
The new café will be located in the newly built area of the building, overlooking the Brenta Dolomites. Large spaces and glass walls will gift restful moments admiring the panorama. On the second floor, the new bistro will offer waiter service in a completely new, modern and welcoming location. On the terrace, provided with a kiosk, customers will have the opportunity to have lunch in the open air while contemplating an unrivaled view at 360 degrees from the Brenta Dolomites to the Adamello and Presanella and up to the Idro Lake during the clearest days.

Gourmet restaurant
The gourmet restaurant will be completely new: the interior design has been developed in order to recall the geological features of the landascape and form a continuum with the new gondola lift. The restaurant will provide an exclusive experience through a strong bond with the territory: the gastronimic offer will aim to enhance the local products in a traditional but at the same time contemporary key. There will also be a specific area dedicated to wine tasting, where local excellence will be highlighted.
